Un-mapping a purchased domain from my original WordPress.com domain
-
I started with a example.wordpress.com site and then purchased my own example.com domain and now I would like to delete the example.wordpress.com site and only be using the example.com domain. In other words, I need to unmap the personal domain from the wordpress domain…how do I do this without losing the personal, paid domain and its hosting?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Brynna – All sites here at WordPress.com have an underlying .wordpress.com URL. If your domain ever expires, your site will still be there at the underlying URL, but while you have a custom domain, you will only see that URL yourself in your Dashboard. All of your readers will only see the custom domain, brynnahargrove.com.

So it only looks like it’s still showing the other url to me? That makes sense, since I’m always logged in when I go to it. Thanks!

Hi Brynna – You should see the correct one here: http://brynnahargrove.com/
But you’ll still see the old one here:
https://thewayfaringgirl.wordpress.com/wp-admin/If you still see the old one at that first link, try clearing your browser cache. :)
