Unable to access dashboard or site admin
-
I haven’t used my blog for a while and wanted to restart. I can log in but if I click on dashboard from the drop down menu I only get a blank white screen, the same happens with site admin.
I went to the themes and selected 2011, I didn’t think it would actually change anything but it has and now I’ve lost my header image and can’t gain access to anything to change it.
Confused and my technical knowledge is not good… Please help
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m desperate here, no access to anything, all I can do is log in and out.
I use Firefox on a Windows 7 laptop if that has any bearing on anything, and I never had any problems before.

How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.
Are you using http:// or https:// see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Which browser and version of it are you using? Have your tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
Is your browser version up to date? You can upgrade any browser version here.
http://browsehappy.com/Do you have third party cookies enabled?
Do you have JavaScript enabled?
Do you have another browser you can try?
You can use this link to see if your Flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not up to date then this is where to download and install the latest version of Flash. http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
Have you had any recent operating system or security updates?
Sometimes operating system and/or security system updates can cause problems so check for known issues. When you make adjustments to your browser settings — changing privacy settings, deleting cookies or increasing security — you will need to close your window and restart the browser before those new settings become effective. -
Thanks. It will take me about a week to work my way through that little lot especially as I don’t understand half of it! But I will start at the beginning and try.

Please try this first > clearing your browser cache and cookies http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050

I have cleared the cache and cookies and that hasn’t made any difference.
I have Firefox 7.0.1 which it says is the latest version. I am connected to the net via wi-fi and my home DSL modem router. Web access is slower than usual but it is the same way I have always connected.
I’ve never set https as I’m only ever on our secure network, but can’t currently get in there to look.
Java script and third party cookies? Frankly I have no idea.
I will try Internet Explorer now. Thanks

I think you are more likely to be successful using Firefox or Chrome than using IE but please let us know if IE does work for you.

I am bemused. Internet Explorer works. I’ve had to update because I never use it and restart and log in repeatedly, but I can get to my dashboard.
This is good because at least I now have access, but I don’t like using IE and am now baffled as to why Firefox can’t get me there…
-
I’m with you on that … completely baffled. Thank goodness you can now get into your dashboard but I’m flagging this thread for Staff attention.

Thanks for the help, I will persist with fiddling to see if I can make it work, if not perhaps I’ll try Chrome.

In case any one looks into this I thought I should explain what I have tried today and where I’m at.
I am still unable to access anything with Firefox, even the login doesn’t work correctly, after logging in I get a blank screen but if I press F5 I get my blog page which says that I am logged in. This is no use as clicking on any of the buttons just gives me a white page.
I downloaded the latest version of Internet Explorer last night and with this I have full use of my blog so far. I am not keen to use IE so just downloaded Chrome with high hopes.
Chrome won’t work either doing virtually the same as Firefox; I don’t get a white screen it just stays right where it is and nothing is useable. Disappointed!
To perhaps add to the confusion I tried my partner’s laptop running Firefox/Windows 7 yesterday and it behaved exactly the same as mine ie. no dice, this morning however it logged on and went straight to the dashboard as normal. This evening it won’t again, back to white screens.
Even the post I did manage to make keeps moving it’s layout around after I’ve edited it repeatedly to correct it. Utterly confused.
