Unable to access domain name

In July I briefly tested WordPress for the first time, entering all the required information and my own domain name. All seemed okay but I did not make any edits to the basic setup and then exited the site. Now I have re-entered my login and it appears to have me logged in as a new user, with a user name with today’s date and I now cannot access my own domain name in order to edit. If I enter the url of my domain name and inspect it’s contents, it clearly references my name and the fact that it was done some time in July. How do I resolve this problem. It is as if WordPress is blocking me from accessing my own domain.

You failed to provide the URL of the site in question so no one can help you with it as we do not know where it is hosted.
This is wordpress.COM support. We do not provide support for local installs of wordpress.ORG software, or for wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites wordpress.com account page. However, about 30% of those who post here every day are posting to the wrong support forum.
Please type the actual URL of the site you are referring to into http://whoishostingthis.com to determine who hosts the site so you know where to post for support.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. URL is : joannakafarowski.com and when I inspect the site elements, the following line appears indicating that the site is attached somehow to my user account.

Although I can see the URL, WordPress is not letting me edit the site and infact indicates that there is no site

You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard. The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:
http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
* You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with the actual blog’s name in that URL.
I recommend bookmarking that link or memorizing it.
You can update your email address here https://wordpress.com/me at any time.
If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies and then login correctly under the relevant username account.
If you did not register the site under your username account and do not have the required access, then you need to contact the person who registered the account and site under it, and have them act or transfer the site to your username account by using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
