Unable to access my account
-
I signed up with WordPress through Domain.com. I started working on building my site but if I try and login to WordPress.com it tells me that I don’t have an account with WordPress. But if I go to Domain.com and click on WordPress then to Manage site it will send me try and open but then give me a message saying ‘This site can’t be reached’. I’m getting frustrated because I am paying for this service but am struggling to get it to work for me. I’m unsure if this is somehow an error on my end, or something you guys can help me clear up?
Thank you!

Good Morning –
Thanks for getting in touch. We understand that starting a new project, like a website, is a big undertaking and we want to provide as much support to our customers as possible.
Looking at that site I can see it’s hosted on Domain.com. It’s not using our managed hosting environment from WordPress.com.
For help, I would contact them first. Otherwise, there’s a volunteer network available for folks who run their own WordPress installations, which is how you’re set up. That is available at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
On WordPress.com our team offers a managed hosting environment. This means that we handle all the back end details of the site. Things like back ups, updates, security, spam, seo, ssl, mobile optimization, top notch hosting specs, and sorting out any errors or bugs that pop up along the way. When you run a stand alone WordPress installation, like what y’all have set up, then all of those details fall on to you – so instead of being able to focus on content you spend a ton of time and frustration fixing these sort of issues.
Your site does not have an attached SSL for example. This is a security risk, and something that most bargain hosting companies charge extra for. Whereas with us, it’s built in because we know how important that is for our customers and their audience.
All of our hosting plans are available on https://wordpress.com/pricing/ If you think a managed environment is a better setup for the project and your experience level then we can talk more about how to move your site over and what’s involved with that process.
I’d suggest moving your domain over on the personal plan to get started. It can be upgraded further, down the road if needed. When that happens you only pay the difference between the 2 plans not the entire price of the new plan.
Not sure if a custom email solution is on your road map but that’s easy enough to add on and set up through WordPress.com. We fully support the ability for you to engage professionally with clients, build trust, and strengthen your brand.
Want to use a custom email address with your domain, such as (email visible only to moderators and staff)? WordPress.com offers an affordable, robust, hosted email solution called Professional Email, which gives you the ease of managing email from your WordPress.com account. We also offer other solutions to meet your email needs described below. At any time, only one of the email options mentioned in this guiI know that’s a whole bunch of information! Write back with more questions. We stay close by.
