Unable to access WP Admin Dashboard
-
I had a weird thing happen with my WordPress account. I messed up adding an element to my website, which had deleted my photo slideshow off of my homepage. I had another person build most of the website for me, and now I am adding and editing elements myself so not the most knowledgeable about websites, but fairly tech savvy.
I decided, why not just restore a backup of my website that I had taken just 10 minutes before? I used Updraft to capture a backup and restore my website.
That started the first of all of my issues. The backup messed up my entire website and removed all of my plug-ins, and anytime I tried to access my WP Admin page, it gave me a “W3 Total Cache Error: some files appear to be missing or out of place. Please re-install plugin or remove /home/texeafc/public-html/wp-content/advanced-cache.php. There has been a critical error on this website”.
I told my website guy about this after I couldn’t figure out how to fix it. I host my website on Name Cheap, so we were both able to log in and see that my website as it was before was still on there, with the plug ins listed. He deleted something (not sure what) and I was able to get back into my WP Admin account…sort of.
I had panicked before my website guy got back to me and tried to log into my WP Admin account from the WP homepage. It kept giving me a message saying “your account does not exist”. I hesitated on creating a new account with my previous WP Admin email login because I know it might cause an issue, but the panic won and I did it anyways. It created a completely new WP Admin account, not associated with my old website.
I went ahead and deleted the new account a day later once I couldn’t figure out how to combine the new account with my old account website. Right now, I am able to go to my website URL and have access to my WP website dashboard because it has me logged in, but if I try to log in through the WP homepage, it will say my account has been cancelled. I already emailed the passwordhelp@wordpress.com email, but haven’t heard back yet.
I don’t want to make a ton of changes to my website, only to be logged out and never be able to get back in.
