Unable to activate theme. Contact support.

    I just created a WordPress site and already have had SERIOUS issues with the free themes. For starters, none of them look remotely close to how they do in the demo – they all have major formatting issues to the point where they are unbearable.

    To add insult to injury, as I was trying to fix the problem (though admittedly probably making it worse), now it won’t let me apply any theme at all, giving me the error ‘Unable to activate theme. Contact support.’

    Please help, this is becoming an incredible headache right off the bat and making me consider other website development platforms.

    Hi,

    activating the theme will not make your site look like the demo of that theme. The newer ones will create a demo homepage that you can use adding your own content, the older ones will need to be set up as per the instructions.

    Clicking on more info of the theme will open up the page with instructions on how to set them up, for example:

    https://wordpress.com/theme/canard/
