"Unable to activate theme" error with any WordPress free theme

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi –

I previously had a business plan WP site but have downgraded to the free plan, and am getting an error when i try to activate any free theme. It looks like something has to be done on the back end of the site to convert the site back to working as a free plan but i’m unsure how to do that.

    Can you please assist? thanks!

  • Hi there,

First, it appears aliimarketing.com is not actually your site. You’re an admin on that site, but the site belongs to the WordPress.com account, aliimarketing. That account also used to own the Business Plan on the site, and still owns the domain on the site.

That site was never downgraded. The Business Plan was removed from that site after the owner of the credit card that was used to buy it, requested a refund after the plan renewed in September last year.

To properly downgrade the site we’ll need to revert it to how it was before the owner installed any plugins on it. We can only do this at request of the site owner, aliimarketing, and also note there is a risk that content added to the site since pugins were installed on it may be lost in the process.

Please log in as the aliimarketing and comment here to confirm, and we can get the process started for you.
