unable to activate user account
-
made up a new user for my blog, but unfortunately made a typo when I wrote in its email address. Now I can’t activate it, or get a new password for the new user.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That user is already active. If you don’t have access to your account or forgot the password, you can request a new password over here.
Please follow the instructions carefully. You’ll receive two separate emails during the reset process, so make sure you read them both. If you don’t receive the emails right away, check your spam folders as well. The confirmation emails can get caught in them sometimes :)

I see, the user ‘purringly’ has indeed a different registered e-mail address. We can’t change the e-mail address because we’re not able to verify the account ownership.
Please make sure you have tried testing different passwords using the reset password form. Often people can remember the password after a few tries.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I’m 100% sure of the password. I knew … right after I’d created the user … that I’d mis-typed the email addy.
Is this user-name lost forever now, just because of my stupid mistake?!

If you are not able to login it’s not possible to use that registered username again.
You can register a new account at http://wordpress.com/signup. You can change the name displayed on your posts and comments by changing the “display name” on your Personal Settings admin panel:

Thank you. I know how to change display name.
I know I made a mistake with that email, but I don’t think the «punishment» [=losing the user-name forever] has any proportion to that mistake!
