unable to add custom field

When creating a post or edit an existing one,Custom fields can not be added.
Even if enable display for custom fields and reload it just refresh without listing the metabox /panel to add new custom field.
Also in localhost installation for testing, the Custom fields overlap Gutenberg blocks(wordpress version 5.8).
I cannot enter content into those blocks so I cannot complete my post using the new editor.And the Additional areas to the editor such as meta boxes from plugins(Yoast seo etc) are also overlapping the content.
