unable to add images to post
-
Hi
I seem to be unable to add images to a post. Its strange I am trying update a post by adding an image.
For some reason the preview button doesnt work and when I click update there is no image. I have tried browser refresh and clicking the box which automatically corrects invalid html.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Was there a solution?
Many thanks

How are you connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com? The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.
Are you using http:// or https:// see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
Which browser and version of it are you using? Have your tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies
Is your browser version up to date? You can upgrade any browser version here.
http://browsehappy.com/Do you have third party cookies enabled? Do you have another browser you can try?
You can use this link to see if your Flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not up to date then this is where to download and install the latest version of Flash. http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
Sometimes operating system and/or security system updates can cause problems so check for known issues. When you make adjustments to your browser settings — changing privacy settings, deleting cookies or increasing security — you will need to close your window and restart the browser before those new settings become effective.

Thank you Timethief
I am using IE9 I have just upgraded. The problem is perplexing because it just seems to be appearing with some old posts. Ive done a test on new posts and whilst not exhaustive it seems that I can add images to new posts.
I will run through the points you raise above as a double-check.
thanks again

This may be an IE issue as I note that others have had success by switching to using Firefox or Chrome browsers.
-
I’d like to rule-out a browser-specific issue.
Do you have any trouble with Chrome or Firefox?

Thanks for this.
For various reasons I am unable to try a different browser.
I am leaving the existing posts for the time being and seeing if the problem occurs with new posts.

Just to report that I think this has now been resolved.
The problem occurred when inserting images which were the full width of the blog text. These would overlap the text editing box and not apparently be properly inserted into the post.
It is then necessary to click anywhere in the text editing box for the image to be properly inserted into the box.
I didnt know if this is just a browser issue or if it is common to WordPress. If it is a common feature it might be useful to update the image help document.
No further action is required here – Ive just posted this to help others with a similar problem.

For those who may have the same issue please note the maximum displayed image width for your theme and presize the images prior to uploading them so they fit. If you do not presize images then browsers attempt to display them and the result is images that are squeezed or stretched or chopped off. When the cropper comes into play the result is also loss of image quality.
