Unable to add plug-ins

  I am trying to setup my online store and am running into problems. I go to my admin page and attempt to follow the directions here:
  https://codex.wordpress.org/Managing_Plugins

  However, when I go to plugins, I do not have the ability to add new ones. There are 3 default plugins shown, but no ability to add new ones. What am I doing wrong?

  We cannot install plugins on WordPress.com sites.

  If you need a specific functionality that is not mentioned on this Support page, https://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/ you may want to consider moving to a self-hosted site using the standalone WP software. https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
