Unable to add user because user email is already in use
-
I’m trying to add a user to Zoho to receive email through them. I was able to create the account using (email visible only to moderators and staff) but now I can’t add another user because (email visible only to moderators and staff) “is already in use”. However, I can’t find anywhere where that email is in use.
Is there anyway to find out where this email might be activated?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you have access to the email then you can go to the login page of the site without being logged in and then click on “Forgot Password?” Enter the email that is having the issue. You should get an email with your username if already in use.
If you have already tried this let me know.

Yes, I’ve tried that. The problem is I don’t know what website the email is associated with. Do you know how I would find that out?

Hi there,
If you’ve set up email through Zoho, you’ll need to contact Zoho support for more help using their email services. They can help you add new users there.
You can head to the Zoho Mail Help Center for information about that (such as their Create Users and Mail Accounts support page), or contact Zoho customer support directly for additional help.
Best of luck! :)

The email that I am trying to add to Zoho is being used by another website according to them. So they can’t help me.
The problem I am having is trying to locate the website that the email is currently being used because I, the admin of the email, have no idea what website that is.

Hi there,
I checked your domain again, and I see that you have custom DNS records that also point to Google’s email servers — did you ever set up email service with Google Apps for your domain? It’s possible the email address you are trying to set up is already set up with Google Apps.
You can manage your Custom DNS from the domain manager on your My Domains page, if you need. There, you can click the “Edit” button next to your domain to open the domain manager, and go to the “Edit DNS” tab to see your custom DNS records.
If you aren’t using Google Apps with your domain, you can delete each of the MX records (the lines starting with MX in a green box). To do that, you can hover over each line and click the trash icon that appears on the far right.
If you have any other questions or run into trouble with that, please let me know!

I have deleted all of the MX settings that were attached to gmail, I waited for 24 hours, and I’m still receiving the same results. I’m wondering if the email that I am trying to add to Zoho is attached to WordPress? I tried the forwarding settings in WordPress and sent a test email to that user I’ve been trying to add and it worked. So I think the error message, “user already exists” is because it’s existing through WordPress. Is there anyway to change that?

Hi there,
Because you have email set up with Zoho, the WordPress.com email forwarding service is disabled for your domain. Can you please ask Zoho for more details about the error message you are getting, including any details they have about the email address that is already in use? That will help me see if there is anything more I can do to help on this end.
