Unable to assign private domain to wordpress

    Hi

I’m trying to assign a private domain (third-party provider) to my new WordPress website (site #1) . Before, it was normally used with my old WordPress (site #2) website and it was working just fine. After that, the subscription plan expired on site#2, and later I have created a new website (#1) and bought a new plan (Business).

When I’m trying to use it (Upgrades->Domains->Use a domain I own -> verify ownership) it says that “Incorrect auth code provided for ownership verification of szafiria.pl.” while I’m certain the auth code is correct as I just generated it on providers page.

    The domain is szafiria.pl

PS: Is it normal that 24/7 that much time to connecting with human support? After several hours of waiting, there was no one to help, only AI, which is useless most of the time.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Also, is there an email to wordpress support team instead of posting problem question here on forums?

    Hi @szafiria

Thanks for sharing all those details. I’d be happy to help.

If your goal is to connect your existing domain to your new WordPress.com site, you’ll want to make sure you choose “Connect” after clicking “Use a Domain I Own”, rather than selecting “Transfer.” This option lets you keep the domain at your current provider and point it to your WordPress.com site. Here’s a step-by-step guide that walks through the full process: Connect an Existing Domain

The auth/EPP code is only needed for domain transfers, not for connecting. Once you use the correct option, you should be able to complete the setup smoothly.

Regarding support: since you’re on a paid plan, you do have access to live chat with a human. You can reach us directly from your dashboard by following these steps: How to Contact Support

While we aim to respond as quickly as possible, there may be occasional delays depending on volume. I understand how frustrating long waits can be, and we appreciate your patience.

There’s no way I clicked transfer instead of connect, since *.pl domains are not supported by wordpress for transfer.
