Unable to block a site from Reader
-
I follow #the-sims-4 tag in Reader, but two days ago a spam site (Allsorce.com) started flooding it with eBay listings, about two every hour making it an awful experience.
I thought no problem, I will block that site so it doesn’t appear in my reader view. But the blocking fails every time. I click “…” and “block site” but then an error message pops up every time saying “Sorry, there was a problem blocking that site”.
This is in a Firefox browser on Windows 10. I get a similar message if I try to block the site using the WordPress iOS app.
Why is the site unblockable? Desperate, I also tried to report it as spam, but the spam report also failed. Whenever I tried clicking submit, the button would briefly change to say “verifying” and then nothing happened.

Hi there,
It looks like that site is a self-hosted WordPress site connected here via Jetpack, and the option to block Jetpack sites is not currently available. Our team is already aware of the issue, though, as there has been other reports, and we’re working on it. I’ll let you know if I hear anything more on this.

That’s weird. I thought that posts from self-hosted Jetpack connected sites shouldn’t show up in WordPress.com tag search pages though?

Posts from sites on paid Jetpack plans have been included in tag searches as of a few months ago.

Hi there,
Just an update: You should now be able to block that site in the Reader if you don’t wan their posts cluttering up the topic listing, though it appears they have since lost interest in Sims :)
