Unable to change password

  • Unknown's avatar

When I go to Security > Password in my account, and enter a new password the ‘Save password’ button is still grayed out ? If I manually remove the disabled attribute and click submit I get There was a problem saving your password. Please, try again.

If I look at the HTTP request it returns an Unauthorized HTTP status code and error. Why can’t I change my own password, I’m logged in?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Update: able to reset my password via forgot my password but still I should be able to do it while being logged in.

  • Hi there,

    Is this at https://wordpress.com/me/security?

I’m able to save a password without issues on that page on my end.

Please check if clearing your browser cache, disabling browser add-ons, or using a different browser helps – it could be that something in your browser is blocking the network request that checks if the password is allowed before enabling the button.

Yes that’s the page. I’ve cleared cache, tried in incognito mode, tried in another browser, same issue. Heck I’ve tried another ISP/computer entirely on a different network.

I’m not going to worry about it anymore since I was able to find a workaround.
