Unable to Change Username
-
Hello everyone,
I had a first WordPress account that I didn’t remember creating. Some time later I created another WordPress account (because I thought I didn’t have an account yet). It turns out that I did a lot of things on the new account and it ended up being my main account.
I recently decided to change the username on my main account (the new account) and then I discovered that the username was already in use… that’s when I remembered that I had an old account with a different email address but that it had the username that I wanted to use on the new account.
So what I did was delete my old account, since it was no longer in use and I wanted to use the username on my new account.
Finally, even though the account was deleted (after waiting 30 days for definitive deletion), I still keep getting the error that the username is already in use.
Can anyone help me solve this?

I believe that your old username would not be available to use immediately or later ; even though you’ve deleted it because to prevent impersonations, the old usernames are not available immediately.
If you wish to use or change username; would recommend you to change the display name instead. To know more about changing username please visit our support documentation here: https://wordpress.com/support/change-your-username/
Hope this helps!

It seems like there might be a delay in the system’s recognition of your account deletion. You can try contacting WordPress support directly to expedite the process. Alternatively, consider waiting a few more days or choosing a different username as a temporary solution. If the issue persists, reaching out to WordPress support is the best course of action.

Hey folks, Deleted usernames are not recycled, not even to the original owner. When you change your username you are advised of this. More information in the link below.
