Unable to create a free wordpress.com blog

    I am trying to create a free wordpress.com blog (I don’t need all the fancy stuff the paid plans provide). However, every time I try and make one, I get stuck at the domain page.

    On https://wordpress.com/start/domains-with-preview, I get the following: “Sorry, we weren’t able to generate any domain name suggestions for that search term. Please try a different set of keywords.”

    No matter what I type, I am unable to create a free blog. I even tried in the Android app and it errors out saying it cannot connect with the server.

    I’ve used wordpress before many years ago and did not have an issue then (I don’t have that blog anymore). Why am I having this issue now? I don’t want to map my own domain or buy my own domain. I just would like to get my ideas and helpful tips out to the world.

    Hi there,

    What search term are you trying on the domains page? I tried that just now using several different search terms, and were suggested free URLs for all of them.

    For best results, make sure you use only one word as the search term.
