Unable to Create a WordPress account

  Hello! I have sent out an invite to register for an account for one of participants in a training class, however, she is unable to create an account. Could you look into this?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Please share more information about what is happening. For example:

  – is there an error message
  – does the page fail to load
  – have they tried a different browser

  Thank you for getting back to me! The user is getting an error message that the usernames she is suggesting are not valid, even though they are unique. What do you think may be the issue?

  Hi there,

  What exactly does the error message say? I wonder if the issue is that the username that they are trying to register with is already taken. I would have them try a different browser to register or even a different username to see if they receive the same error message. I may email you to receive the username if the issue persists.

  The error message does not allow the participant to register for an account and she has tried a different browser. Would you be able to send me an email so we can chat on the phone about this?

  Hi Jesse –

  Knowing exactly what the error message says will help us get to the bottom of the issue. Can they copy + paste it to you, and then you forward that on to this thread?

  For example, their email address may already exist on an account they set up a long time ago, that would prevent them from being able to use that email address during the sign up flow for a new account.

  All of our support is through online channels, we do not offer phone support.

  Hi Liza,

  The error messages that this participant is receiving is “Sorry, that username already exists! If this is you log in now.” and “invalid user input”.

  This participant has never had a WordPress account to her email address before. Any ideas on why this may be occurring?

  “Sorry, that username already exists!

  They’ll have to choose a username that isn’t already taken at WordPress.com. Usually adding one or two numbers to the preferred username solves the issue.
