Unable to create blog
-
Step 1: Set up your blog
I enter my information
Step 2: Choose a theme
I click on a theme
Step 3: Customize Tonal (Tonal is the theme I selected)
I want to use it as is so I click “Next Step”I am now taken back to Step 1. I have gone through the loop several times but can never get past step 1.
Any idea what is going on and whether or not I can create a blog?
Thanks –
george
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you have not purchased the custom design upgrade note that no changes you try out aside from those such as Custom Background, Custom Header, etc. which are stated on the theme description pages in the features column (right hand side) will be visible to visitors.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/editing-css/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-fonts/You do not need to load the design tools unless you have the Custom Design upgrade. All of these functions can be accessed from your dashboard – without loading the custom design tools – no upgrade required.
Appearance > Header
Appearance > Background
Appearance > Theme Options (applicable only to some themes)
Settings > Reading (set a static front page)
Site Title and Tagline > Settings > GeneralIf you are using the preview mode for the Custom Design upgrade some of the settings in that mode will save but they won’t show up on the front end unless you purchase the upgrade.
Make sure you are running a browser and version of it found at http://browsehappy.com and you have both third party cookies and JavaScript enabled on your browser.

http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654To go back to the free options, go to Appearance → Themes → Customize → Colors and click the “exit the preview” link in yellow at the top of the panel on the right.

I chose “Tonal” because it is free – I see other themes where there is a charge. I am also not customizing it and am looking to use it as is. So I am using a free theme without any customization, does that mean that I need to pay for something???

Free theme means the theme is free. It does not mean that you can do any CSS editing. That requires an upgrade. With a free theme you are limited to use of the free features for customizations I stated above.
I am also not customizing it and am looking to use it as is.
Have you consulted the detailed theme description at this link?
https://wordpress.com/themes/tonal -
I do not want to edit the CSS and I am fine with the limited use. I want to use it as is – no customization, no alteration, no color change, no change whatsoever.
So why is it sending me back to step 1? Am I required to customize it? If so, are there any themes that really are free? I have had another blog with WordPress since 2005 and it was a snap to set up, this will not allow me to at all.

I suspect you have a browser related issue. That’s why I posted what I did in my first response.
In order to help you we need to know your specific computing environment details. Please work through what follows and report back.
1. If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/ please try upgrading or switching first.
2. If you are using an IE browser in compatibility mode please disable that mode. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/internet-explorer/use-compatibility-view
3. If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at http://browsehappy.com/
(a) Try clearing your browser’s cache http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
If applicable see here for instructions on how to clear the cache for Chrome and Safari on the iPad:

4. You can use this link to see if your flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not then go to http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ and download and install the latest version of flash.
5. Try using another browser.
6. If you are not successful let us know:
(a) Exactly what kind of device you are using to connect to the internet and to WordPress.com.
(b) Exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary http://supportdetails.com/
(c) Exactly what you experience including what any error reports you receive state. -
Well, that was way too complicated so I just went to Blogger and created it. Thanks anyway.
