Unable to create directory error when trying to upload an image

  Dear sirs, when trying to upload images into my posts I get the following error message: Unable to create directory wp-content/uploads/2014/05. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

  I went through the forums and they all recommend to contact you guys to help me out with this. So here is me calling out for a bit of help.
