Unable to create free WordPress.com site – stuck in domain purchase flow

    Hello,


    I am an Australian registered charity (ACNC + DGR).
    I am trying to create a <strong data-start=”1099″ data-end=”1157″>free WordPress.com site using a .wordpress.com address, but my account is locked into a domain-purchase flow and I cannot proceed without checkout.


    Can you please <strong data-start=”1274″ data-end=”1305″>reset my site creation flow or <strong data-start=”1309″ data-end=”1346″>create a free .wordpress.com site for me?

    Hi there, That specific WordPress.com sub-domain already exists so it won’t be possible to register it. You’ll need to choose a different sub-domain or upgrade to create a site with a custom domain.

    @justjennifer is correct that the specific subdomain you requested is already taken, so it can’t be registered again. The good news is that you can create a free site with any other available subdomain.

    Here’s what to do:

    1. Start the site creation process again.
    2. When you reach the domain step, enter your preferred site name (without adding .wordpress.com at the end).
    3. Under the option that says Start free with a WordPress.com subdomain, click “Start free.”
    4. On the next screen, choose the Free plan to continue without checkout.

    Once you do that, you should be able to complete the setup at no cost.
