Unable to define parent page attribute in Isola theme (to introduce hierarchy)
-
Hi. I am using the isola theme, I’ve created several initial (peer) pages. I’d like to now introduce hierarchy between these pages, and supposedly the page attributes widget along the right side of my dashboard for each page should include a “Parent” page entry (mine does not).
I’ve also attempted using “custom menus” to create hierarchy, but I can’t populate the custom menus with any initial data (pages, etc.) so can’t seem to get that working either. Adding hierarchy should be a fairly trivial concept; not sure why this is proving so difficult. I’ve also restarted Safari, etc. as suggested, no difference. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you, –Bob

Hi there,
After looking into your account, I found that all your pages were set to private. Please set those to Public and you can arrange your Custom Menu as you see fit.
If you want to keep your site private until it is ready, please go to Settings > Reading in your Dashboard and set it to private by selecting this:
I would like my site to be private, visible only to myself and users I choose
under Site Visibility.
Let me know if you have any questions with this!

Hi Grace,
Thank you very much for your quick reply. I will try out your suggestions.
I am holding out hope that your suggestions may also finally make the “Parent” field in the page attribute widget show up anyway, thereby obviating the need for custom menus, but that maybe wishful thinking. I’ll soon find out. Greatly appreciate your help!

Hi Grace,
I wanted to confirm back to you (& any future readers) that your solution worked: the Parent field in the Page attributes widget materialized, allowing me to define the hierarchies, and working with custom menus allowed me to customize indentations in the ‘view’ of that hierarchy- as one example. Thank you again! –Bob -
