Unable to delete a site, please help!

  Hello, I am looking to clean up the “My Sites” section of my WordPress account by deleting the three unused blogs. It is my understanding that once deleted, I can never get them back. Is this correct? Also, deleting the three unused blogs will not affect my active blog, correct? Please help!

  Hi tffnyhrly,

  Yes and yes, those are correct. Deleting a site permanently removes it and you’ll never be able to reuse its WordPress.com address (such as yourgroovysite.wordpress.com). You active blog will not be affected. Just make sure you delete the correct ones.

  @elzrjose, When I try to delete the three unused blogs, I get an error message that prevents me from doing so. Is there a workaround or can this be done manually? Please advise.

  Hi @auxclass, I received the following message:

  Warning! You cannot delete a blog if the blog has a domain registration upgrade. You must have access to the blog in order to get to the domain manager.

  If you do not want to use your blog any more please make it private. Other users won’t be able to visit the blog but you can still access the Dashboard so you can get to the domain manager.

  I would like to delete the following sites:

  – tiffanyharley.wordpress.com
  – curlsandpearlsny.wordpress.com

  If you have a domain name registered as the message indicates the blog can not be deleted – try transferring the upgrade to a live blog you are going to keep alive – or as the message suggests just set the blog to Private

  Or Dashboard >> Settings >> Reading >> Visible only to those I choose

  I can’t remember is domain registration transfer takes staff help or not so I will also flag this for staff attention

  Hi there,

  I can help get that last blog deleted, however in order to get that taken care of I’ll need to delete your domain name first. Could you please verify that you want me to delete the domain thlifecoaching.com? If I do so it will eventually be returned to the registry and then returned to the general public where anyone can register it.

  If you’re OK with this, please let me know!

  OK, that domain has been removed from your blog. You should now be able to delete the blog just like you did the others.

  Let me know if you run in to any problems!
