Unable to Delete Comments

  I am unable to delete/modify imported comments that did not link to specific blog posts during the import process. Also even when the cursor hovers over the line item it does not even bring up the action links. Is there something that I can do to remedy this?

  Which blogging platform are these imported comments from?

  It was imported from Blogger. I tried both the Blogger auto-import widget and the manual WordPress import after I had converted the Blogger file into a WordPress file. The issue came from the auto-import when one of the times I had tried it it had only brought over the comments and not the posts that they would be associated with.

  Also the unlinked comments are now just blank duplicate of the ones that I was able to correctly load and wish for them to just be removed.

  If the comments are not associated with posts, do they show on the blog itself, or just on the Dashboard? If they show on the blog, can you give us a link to one?

  They only show up in the dashboard comment list. In the ‘In Response To’ column it just has the word balloon with a 0 and no link. If I had the resources to host the blog myself the fix could be easy as I would just make changes directly to the DB. All in all it doesn’t affect the blog other than my desire to keep it tidy under the hood.

  Do you want all the duplicate (blank) comments deleted? I can access them and delete them for you if you wish, but I wanted to confirm to be sure.

  Hi coffeemanmatt,

  Can you do something similar for me? I just started with WordPress last week and I would like to delete *all* my blog content: all posts and comments, whether published or unpublished. I have the same problem as thenoawebsite but I’d rather start everything over.
