Unable to Delete Site

I’m trying to delete a site. I’ve already cancelled and removed the premium upgrades, but I am still getting the ‘Please cancel your upgrades prior to deleting your site’ message. Nothing shows up anymore when I click on ‘Manage Purchases.’ Everything is clear. What to do?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I still can’t delete the site. These instructions just take me back to the section “Manage Purchases.” As you’ve noted, there are no other upgrades connected to it, so I don’t know why I’m still unable to delete.
Correction btw, the blog I need help with is societyandspace.wordpress.com. I think the wordpress form automatically inserted that line about another old blog I had.

Does that private site have a premium theme?
Premium themes have to be removed by Staff or transferred to another site of yours before the site they are on currently can be deleted. Deleting a site with upgrades https://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/#deleting%C2%A0a-site-with-upgrades
If Staff removes the theme for you, you won’t be able to get it back. And, if you delete the site, its name will not become available again, so do not use that option to “start over”. If you’ll confirm you understand that, Staff will act for you.

Hi, it doesn’t as far as I know. I inherited management of the site and have already moved the content to a new URL. Now trying to delete this site completely. So yes, I understand what deleting the site entails. Thanks!

Exactly which username account registered the site and is the actual owner of the site?

Every WordPress.COM blog has a sole owner. It is the person with the WordPress.COM username account who registered the blog under that username account and a single associated email address, and who is the original Admin of the blogs registered under that username account.
You need to contact whoever registered the site ie. the actual owner of the site and have them delete their site, or have them transfer ownership of the site to your account, so you can delete it.
If you do not have the required access you need to contact the person who registered the account and site under it and have them transfer the sites to your username account by using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

There are upgrades connected to that account that need to be removed or transferred before you’ll be able to delete societyandspace.wordpress.com.
