Unable to Delete Text on Bottom of Home Page (Widget)–Still trying to Start Over

    It seems that I have a static page, and I want to (1) change it so that my blog appears on the first page; (2) eliminate the text on the bottom of the page that I think is called a widget. Edit does not allow me to do so because it is not shown on the one page I created, Home. This is my third restart and it’s hard to believe that trying to delete my first effort to create a blog website is this difficult. I want to delete and begin anew with a scrolling page, an image, and a comments box after the most recent post. I’m trying to do this with Twenty Sixteen template.
