Unable to edit any of my pages.

I no longer have the page edit capability I used to have. I have searched all through the various menu items and have gotten nowhere. I have several features on my CONTACT page I want to edit. HELP! (email visible only to moderators and staff)

Hi @csheger ,
How terrible! I hope we can get this fixed soon.
To better assist you, could you tell us the URL of the site you are trying to edit?
Also, could you let us know if you are having issues getting to the edit screen of a page, or issues once you have opened the edit screen of a page?

Thank you very much for such a prompt response! I can get to the edit screen OK. But when I get there the page display edit/compose tools I recall having isn’t there. I have only the text of the first section of the page. There’s a bunch of stuff with selection boxes below that that don’t seem relevant to what I need. This is the ‘CONTACT’ page. There are several other sections- ‘How did you find us?’, ‘Please include your address….”, etc that I can’t see. I tried selecting the CLASSIC edit function, but no help.
Any thoughts? -
Hi again, @csheger ,
Hmm. I have a few thoughts, but I would need to know your site URL to be certain what is happening. Just to let you know, if you are using a self-hosted version of WordPress from WordPress.org, then you would have to visit their forums to get the assistance you need. We can only help you if you are using a WordPress.com site.

Without seeing your site, this would be my best guess…If you created your Contact page before the new editor (Gutenberg) was introduced, and have since converted the page into blocks, then your contact form would be transformed into a Shortcode block, not a Form block. Perhaps during the conversion into a Shortcode block, some of your form contents have been misplaced?
When you open your Contact page in the editor, do you see a block titled “Shortcode”? Does the content of that block look similar to the Shortcode listed on this support page?
How to Add a Contact Form with Shortcodes
This support page only lists the old editor. I believe staff are currently updating support documentation to match the new editor, so we should see a new version soon. You could edit the shortcode you see in that block to make changes to your form.
Also, the new editor does have a block called “Form”. If you’re not comfortable editing shortcode, you could consider remaking your contact form with the new “Form” block.I hope that all makes sense. Let us know how you go! :)

Hi,
My site is grngate.com or just grngate.com.
Both work (or should).
I think I am using the WordPress site as I log into http://grngate.com/wp-login.php.
I see no ‘Shortcode’ block (whatever that is).I’m NOT an IT guy and just originally doing the site was a challenge.
Thank goodness for WordPress.
But now as I want to fiddle some items, I’m having this issue. It seems that the editor was changed to something using ‘blocks’.
When I try to edit my CONTACTS page all I have is the initial text.
This is visible both as the editable text and the HTML code (of which I have no knowledge).
But the rest of the page is simply not there.
You suggest that it may have been deleted when the editor was changed and I may need to recreate it. Oh my, what a bummer!
Perhaps you could look at the page and make a suggestion on where I should go next.
Thank you for all your help.
Cheers,
Chuck -
Hi Chuck,
Thanks for sending us your site URL. So, I’ve checked the records and it seems you are using GoDaddy as your hosting service. GoDaddy offers a service called “WordPress Hosting”. This is fundamentally using WordPress.org services and not WordPress.com services. So, unfortunately, we cannot help you here in these forums.
The best suggestion I can give you is to contact GoDaddy. The following link will lead you to the different support features they have for their users.
https://www.godaddy.com/helpHomepages can be difficult. WordPress makes a lot of things easier, but there is still much one has to learn as they go along. I wish you the best in your journey and hope your problems are solved soon. All the best! :-)
