Unable to edit on desktop
-
I have had a few issues in the past with the desktop app not updating but today the desktop app will not allow me to edit. It keeps saying that I have plugins that prevent this from happening and that I need to edit online instead. Is there a way for me to change this because I am pretty sure I do not have any plugins.

Hi there,
May you please let us know the URL of the site you are trying to edit on the desktop app. Please note that this is expected behavior for WordPress.org sites connected through jetpack.

It looks like you have two different WordPress.com accounts:
– @jwoodward13 which is the original poster and the account that owns the
wishesanddreamsmatter.wordpress.comsite.
– @jrwoodward1305 which is the account you used to give us the site URL.Check to see that you’re logged into the correct user account in both the browser and desktop app as there’s some login cookies that the app uses in order to post on your behalf.
If you’re logged into the app under @jwoodward13 and that’s the account you see here – https://wordpress.com/me – and if you still see that error, please take a screenshot of the problem in question. If you’re not familiar on how to take a screenshot, this support document will help explain how to make one:
Then, use a service like Snipboard.io to upload the screenshot and then share the image link from that service here and we’ll take a closer look. Also let us know what version of the desktop app you’re using.
Thanks!

Your site wishesanddreamsmatter.wordpress.com was created under the account
jwoodward13. The only way to edit the site would be from the account that owns it (unless you have another account that’s an admin on the site).
So, to answer your question – yes, you will have to be logged into the same account on both the app and the browser. -
-
@leifjtranemose, could you send a link to your site? Basically the app has to work with the block editor, so if anything on your site is trying to override that, it’ll need to go online.
-
hey, http://leifjtranemose.wordpress.com
i have checked my log-in and i have the same credentials on both. -
@leifjtranemose – can you delete and reinstall the WordPress desktop app and log back in and see if you still have this problem?
If so, please provide your app version and operating system (and version) you’re using and we’ll take a closer look.
Thanks!

I am still the same. I have redownloaded the app a few times due to not wanting to update. But for some reason it still wants to edit online. I have now made my other account an admin so I can edit on both accounts.
-
Hm, that seems rather odd.
@jrwoodward1305 can you confirm you’re on the same version numbers that @leifjtranemose posted? -
-
Hi @jrwoodward1305 to clarify, you are able to manage most functions of your site and the issue is only with editing pages or blog posts specifically? Or is the issue that you cannot access any management functions on wishesanddreamsmatter.wordpress.com?
Also, do you have these issues when logged in as @jwoodward13 or @jrwoodward1305 or is it the same issue no matter which account you are logged in under?
Thanks for the additional info!

Hi,
Yeah, I can do pretty much everything else but just can’t edit pages or posts.
I have just changed over to my other account and it is the same on there. When I want to edit a post it will say
‘You have one or more plugins that prevent editing content within WordPress Desktop.
Continue in an external browser?’
And won’t allow me to edit in the app -
Would you please try fully uninstalling and re-installing the app?
https://freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/ is a good free app that I use to make sure something is fully uninstalled.
