Unable to Follow What’s Up With That (WUWT)

The wordpress system explained that I had unfollowed WUWT.
Never knowingly did that.
I have been disconnected for years.
Today I tried to Follow again.
Could not find a way to Follow WUWT.
The system behaves as though there is a permanent unfollow attached to my email address. -

The 2poorrich account you are logged in to was created a few hours ago and has followed 3 blogs but you haven’t unfollowed any. What is the exact message you are seeing and where is it being displayed?
Could not find a way to Follow WUWT.
What is the full address of the WUWT site you are trying to follow?
Just let me know and we can go from there.

I also noticed your WordPress.com account has been activated yet. Can you check your email account (including the spam folder) for an activation email and click on the link it contains?

On the right side of the website page there is a comment, in my case, “You are following WUWT via email.” Apparently, wordpress has “remembered” my IP and email addresses.
Yesterday, however, when I first indicated I wished to follow WUWT by entering my email address, a comment in red appeared indicating that I had selected to Unfollow WUWT.
This is why I asked for help.
Today the comment in red does not appear, but there has been no following emails from WUWT. Perhaps the CA fires are causing this problem.
The wordpress website indicated that creating an account would be a good idea, however, creating an account offered no solutions to the “Unfollow” predicament that had arisen.
The primary objective of the account website seems to be the creation of website. I do not need a website.
I could not solve the contradiction problem — Repeated attempts to FOLLOW WUWT led to a wordpress comment that I had Unfollowed.
There seemed to be no way to merely FOLLOW again to clear the Unfollow condition.
Years ago, when wordpress apparently changed my WUWT status to Unfollow, I could not solve the problem at that time either. WUWT emails stopped. I had to manually go the the website.
I thought I would try the current offer of professional assistance to learn more about this problem.
The Follow-Unfollow system seems to have a glitch, at least in in my case.

Hi Rich,
It looks like your email address is blocking us from sending you any emails, and you are not currently subscribed to that site in either the WordPress.com Reader or via email.
Please go to your account notification settings and unblock the email setting, and you should be able to subscribe to updates from that site. If it still shows you as already subscribed, please clear your browser cache and then visit the site again to subscribe.

My gmail account is not blocking wordpress emails, nor emails from
https://wattsupwiththat.com/The several wordpress emails I have received do not allow a reply. How convenient.
The website https://wattsupwiththat.com/ has not been blocked by gmail, which merely files suspected unwanted emails as spam. Check the spam folder, no emails from https://wattsupwiththat.com/.
Gmail does not block emails, according the Google.
Cleared cache, requested follow again, website indicated unfollow condition again.
email arrived with this suggestion:

Again, no solution at the management webpage.
It should not be so difficult to sign up for email notifications.
Wordpress seems unable to fix this problem.

That’s because you’re not following that site yet. You have been blocking us from sending any emails to you, and that also prevents you from following any sites, so your previous attempts to follow that site did not succeed.
Please go to the site, type your email in the subscription widget, and then confirm the subscription via the email we’ll send you. Then you should start receiving notifications for new posts from that site.

Today, the system accepted my subscription!
Previous attempts did not remove the “Unfollow” condition.
It seems that the step suggested by “supernovia” finally led to a solution:

Unchecking the box seemed to work after a while.
Thanks to “supernovia” and to all who helped solve the problem.
It was strange that while attempting to follow (subscribe is a better term), the website continued to post “You are following WUWT via email” even though this was not true. At least confusing.
