Unable to format text in Welcome Message Content

Add topic to favorites
I am using the Modularity Lite theme. When I add any text to the Welcome Message Content, it all appears in a single line, irrespective of whether I have ‘newline’ after the line or not. I also tried using html line breaks (
) or paragraph (<p>) tags, still everything appears in a single line. How can I format this?

Also, can I change the font and size of the text in the Welcome Message Content?

The Welcome Message Content box is just like a “Text” widget: it accepts HTML and inline CSS.
But I don’t understand your question: you’ve added a br tag after the first “Why?”, and I’m seeing a line break at that point. Aren’t you seeing it?

By the way, the correct form of the br tag is this:

To format the text add this to your css and make changes.
```
#welcome-content {
color: #333;
font-size: 2em;
margin-bottom: 0.75em;
}
```
I’m looking into the welcome message and line brakes.

As justpi suggest you can force line breaks with the
tag. Your message would look like this in the Theme Options panel.

Welcome message line one.<br />
Line two. <br />
Line three.
```
