unable to get Instagram Widget to work

I am unable to link my instagram account as a widget to my wordpress website which I NEED! I pretty much know how to do everything else but this one just aint working for me!
I have read the FAQs around this and have followed the instructions and this is what happens:
1) My Site > Themes > Customize > Widgets > Footer 2 (or any of them) > Add A Widget > Instagram (just the name appears at the bottom of website) >
2) Then this box comes up:
[[ Click Save & Publish above (if needed) to activate this Instagram widget, then you can authorize access to your Instagram account.

Having trouble? Try logging into the correct account on Instagram.com first. ]]
3) When I click on the option ‘Authorize Instagram Access’, it asks me to save and publish before I go further, which I do. It then opens a new window which loads up and is blank. The URL is one that takes me back to the initial customizer layout (and when I refresh it, that’s where it takes me).
4) I then go back through to that process and click on the link in that box ‘Having trouble? Try logging into the correct account on Instagram.com first.’ Nothing. I sign in on a new window. Nothing.

5) There is a link to ‘configure’ but that still doesn’t work.
From the FAQs and video on the Instagram widget link, I noticed that when I try to authorize the account, the pop up for access doesn’t come up. I then double-checked my pop ups and I have not got pop-ups on block feature.
Am I missing something here? Please help!!

Make sure you are logged into Instagram when doing the Instagram widget set up. The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:

Navigate to > Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets

This particular widget needs to be authorized using the WP admin widget page rather than the customizer. If you go to Dashboard > Appearance> Widgets from the WP Admin dashboard and authorize the widget from there, you’ll have much better luck.
