    Hi,

I’m having particular problems with the site at https://mattimac.com/

In the past, I’ve had a fairly large customer header image (4096×2304, src=”http://mattimac.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/text_3.png”) render at close to or at the native size across browsers.

However, I recently made a few changes to the image and uploaded the original image again. Since then, all renders of that image–even when I access the file via a direct url–are stuck at 1600×900 px, with a reduced file size of 238kb.

I’ve tried many different adjustments to both the theme’s .css and functions.php files. And deleted my browser cache/tried across multiple browsers, just in case. I can’t see a 1600×900 px image version in the uploads folder. I’ve already increased the large file limits in the media settings panel.

Nothing is helping. It looks as though, on encountering the file, the browser is deciding to resize large images according to criteria not obvious in any of the theme’s settings (perhaps in response nonetheless to some existing code).

Strangely, I can upload the file to another WordPress site and the browser will display it unaffected via a direct URL, although having its headers render individual images with no compression seems challenging also.

Any help would be v. much appreciated.

    -Matti

    Hi there,

Apologies, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host your site on our WordPress.com managed hosting.

To explain, we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions. You can learn more about the performance and security benefits of our managed hosting here: https://wordpress.com/hosting/

Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at your current provider. As a result, we do not have access to your site and are not familiar with the source of your issue.

You definitely have the option to move your site to us so we can provide in-house help, and we offer a migration plugin that will help you move your site to our managed hosting in just a few clicks.

Use the Move to WordPress.com plugin to migrate a self-hosted WordPress site to WordPress.com. Prerequisites To follow the steps in this guide, you will need: Your source site: a WordPress site with any other hosting provider (referred to as a se

Unfortunately though, as it stands now, we are not able to help since it is hosted elsewhere. The good news is that help is available here at the open-source WordPress forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting

The folks in that forum are more familiar with these kinds of issues and are in the best position to help.

    Thanks!
