Unable to have users download zip files

    Hi,
    This is with respect to the post: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/private-support/unable-to-upload-zip-file-pro-bundle-%99?replies=1.

    I am no longer able to access it now, so, creating a new post here.

    Here is my problem:
    I uploaded a zip file in the media library but when I try to download it using its URL (http://honalu.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/nerale_win_644.zip) I am unable to do it. The browser is showing a “web page not found” error message. Since I had two zip files in my media library with the name ‘nerale_win_64’ you suggested I delete one of them and try. This time I deleted both the old files and uploaded the zip file afresh. But I am still not able to download the file. Could you please help me with this.

    The only accepted file types your can upload into a free hosted WordPress.com blog are found here >http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/
    Not that .zip files are not included.

    Thanks for your reply.

    I have purchased the pro bundle worth $99 for my blog (honalu.wordpress.com). If you look at the accepted file types, the page says that you can upload zip files if you have purchased a space upgrade. Space upgrade of 10GB was part of the pro-bundle that I purchased. So, I should be able to upload zip files, right?

    Hi knsandeep,

    The .zip uploader is working, but your purchase of the Pro/Premium Bundle did not go through, so you do not currently have that upgrade active on your site.

    You will need to check with your bank to see what the issue might be and try purchasing the upgrade again.

    Thanks for your reply and sorry about coming back to you on this with a delay of a few days.

    I have verified that there was no issue with the bank transaction and infact if I go to “Stores” I can see the Product named “WordPress Premium” purchased for $99, in an active state. It is because of this I have also been given the domain name and a storage space of an additional 10GB. So, the bank transaction has happened successfully and the Pro bundle purchase is active.

    Hi there,

    Sorry for the confusion. It appears the upgrade was purchased by another user and is indeed active.

    If the download isn’t working, it could be that that file itself is not uploading properly. You might try renaming the file and uploading it again.

    Renaming and uploading the file was one of the first suggestions on this forum and I have tried it several times and it has not worked. Any other suggestions please.

    Hi again,

    I tested .zip uploads to the blog at honalu.wordpress.com and they are working properly. It’s very possible that you your file is not uploading properly. Either the file is corrupted or there’s an issue with it not uploading completely, possibly due to file size and your connection.

    My best recommendation to you is to confirm the file itself works, and if so, try uploading it from a different computer or location to see if that makes a difference.
