Unable to import large sql file

I have a 668 MB wordpress sql file and am uploading it using your web interface but the upload times out midway. Is there a way to get my upload done successfully

We only support .xml imports (not sql) with a maximum file size of 15MB here on WordPress.com:
If you can export an .xml file but it is larger than 15MB, you will need to export several smaller files or split the existing .xml file into several smaller ones. One thing that can help is deleting your site’s pending comments, trash and spam folders before you create your export xml.

Thanks – the XML file export from my site is 42MB. Will getting a paid account allow me to upload a file that exceeds the 15MB limit?

It won’t no. The 15MB limit applies to all free and paid plans. If you are exporting from a self hosted WordPress.org site, there should be an option to export subsets of your content. Posts, pages, media and categories etc can be exported into vyakarnam.wordpress.com separately rather than in one .xml file.

Sadly, the size of the xml file that contains data just from my posts is 30.3MB. Breaking up this file into further smaller-sized files seems painful.
Does a paid account allow uploading sql files (from backup to restore)?

I’m afraid neither our free or plans offer the option to upload .sql files. I appreciate breaking the .xml into several smaller files is a bit more work but it’s the only way they can be imported.
