Unable to import Xanga xml

I have exported my Xanga XML files but when I try to import them into WordPress I receive an error stating “The file is not an xml file. Please see instructions for downloading and using the Xanga backup file”

Note that you must open the .zip export folder you get from Xanga and import ALL of the files included in the .zip folder individually.
If you are following those steps and still run into errors, a couple things that often help are trying a different browser (like Chrome) or using the WordPress importer rather than the Xanga-specific one.

Thank you for your response. To clarify I had the files unzipped and was following the instructions that you had posted. However it looks like switching from IE11 to Chrome did the trick. Thanks for the tip.
