unable to insert audio files into post

I am unable to insert audio files into posts. I can click on Add Media and get the library, but when I click on the audio file I wish to use, nothing happens. I’m only having this issue with audio. I’m able to insert images into posts.
I’ve had a few issues surrounding audio files come up in the last few days; it seems to be a result of improvements made to editing functionality. I’ve also got another issue regarding the playlist:

I’d be happy to investigate this for you. A few more details might help me narrow down the problem:
1. Is the audio file you want to insert already uploaded to your Media Library? Or are you having trouble uploading it in the first place?
2. After you click on the audio file in your Media Library, what happens when you click the “Insert into post” button in the bottom right? (Does nothing happen? Does the Insert Media pop-up window close?)
3. If the Insert Media pop-up window closes, can you try waiting 5-10 seconds to see if the audio code appears in your editor? Sometimes there can be a slight delay between clicking the “Insert into post” button and seeing the code for your audio file appear.
4. Can you please confirm what browser (including the version number) you’re using?

Thanks for helping! Here are the deets:
1. The audio file is already uploaded to my Media Library.
2. After selecting the audio file, the “Insert into post” button stays greyed out.

Thanks for those details! Unfortunately, though, I haven’t been able to reproduce the problem you’re having in my tests. The “Insert into post” button is working for me in Firefox 31, so this might be caused by something in your browser or on your specific blog.
Do you have any add-ons (extensions) installed in Firefox? You can check by going to Tools > Add-Ons in the browser menu. If you do, please try temporarily disabling them to see if that fixes the problem for you.
If the problem continues, would you mind if I try it out on your blog to see if the problem is specific to your blog itself? (You can create a draft post on your blog, and I can test it out there. I’ll be sure not to publish the draft post — it’ll just be to test adding the audio file to the post.)

Thanks for all your help. So the problem is resolved-ish. I tried disabling Add-Ons, but that didn’t seem to make a difference. However, if I bring up the media library and highlight an image first, then I can select the audio file and “Insert into post” isn’t greyed out. If you’d still like to play around with it, let me know, but I’ve found a pretty easy work-around, so I’m good :)

I was able to do a few tests on Firefox but, similar to Rachel, I was not able to replicate the problem you described. I’m glad to hear that you’ve semi-resolved it by selecting an image in your media library. However, that shouldn’t be the case!
Can you please check if clearing your browser cache helps?

Try the http version and the https version of your site. Another person found changing it made things work.

Hello everyone,
I have purchased the space upgrade so that I can put mp3s on my page. when I try to upload them I get ‘HTTP error’ message. what does that message mean? how can it be fixed?

I can see that you were able to post a few mp3’s to your media library recently. Have you gotten this sorted out? If the problem persists, can you tell me if you were trying to post the audio files straight into a post or through your Media Library? Can you try using the browser uploader and see if you get errors there as well?

thanks for responding! I was trying to put the files straight into the post but the browser uploader wasn’t working either.What I did was use chrome as a browser instead of firefox or safari. Got the same message on those ones but it worked on chrome! yay!
