Unable to keep things organized at my blog … I’m a newbie-please help me! Thx!

  Hey

  I have a problem with my blog which is http://belgianfilmfreak.wordpress.com/

  What I would like to do is simple. I’m a movie freak and I would like to start writing movie reviews and stash them away under the first letter of the title (thus a review for Terminator 3 is under the T and a review for Gladiator is under the G).

  But I seem to have two problems:

  1) What is the fastest and easiest way to classify a newly written review under a specific category, please? Let’s say that I create category “Movies H” and I have just written a review of the movie “Home alone” … how do I copy/paste this movie review under that category, please?

  2) How do I keep my latest review from appearing on my first page, please? (on my blog you’ll see a review named test – this can also be found under Movies A, but I ONLY want this under Movies A and NOT on my first page, you know?) My first page is meant for news flashes regarding film such as a new movie that I just watched or the unfortunate death of an actor or so. My first page should NOT have any reviews – safe for the one, new movie that I watched that week.

  1) If you add the category to the post when you write it, you do not need to do anything to add it to the Category page; it will be there automatically. Just be sure to use the Category widget in your sidebar to make local category pages show up.

  2) Any post you write will show up on the main blog page as well as the category pages. You can set a static page as the landing page of your blog, though: write a Page as opposed to a Post and once it’s published, go to Settings->General to set that as the front page of your blog. But that won’t update the way you want. There is no way to do exactly what you want at WordPress.com
