Unable to leave comment

  • Unknown's avatar

I am unable to leave a comment on a blog. I am signed in. What could be the trouble?

  • Unknown's avatar

I am also having this problem. Perhaps it is an internal issue within wordpress?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Commenting is not broken.

Please describe in detail and give exact links to problems.

I am trying to post a comment to the 38 Pitches blog (http://38pitches.com/2007/11/06/done/). At the bottom of the entry there is no text box to enter a comment (which I assume is supposed to be there), only the instructions: “You must be logged in to post a comment. If you do not have an account, please sign up for one at WordPress.com.” When I click on the login link it just brings me back to the Dashboard page, because I am already logged in. I did just create my account a few minutes ago – is it possible that’s part of the problem?

I guess you are using Internet Explorer?

Try Firefox – http://mozilla.com – others have told me it works for that blog.

38 Pitches has had many, many reports of people trying to comment on it and the comments not working. There’s some glitch with that blog and the fact that eighty million people are trying to comment on it; I think it gets more than anyone else on WP from the sounds of it.

it’s definitely a owrdpress.com’s “glitch” related with the custom domain *and* so called ‘Membership’* option. not sure at all if has anything to do with a browser.

    .
*) ‘Users must be registered and logged in to comment’ option, which I had a hard time to find because for whatever lame reasons it unexpectedly resides on the ‘General’ options page and not on the ‘Discussion’ one.

ok, so I am not the only one who can not leave a comment. Does anyone have any answers on what is happening?

    @nickki
    (1) Do you have a wordpress.com blog? And if so are you signed in to wordpress.com when you are trying to leave these comments that you refer to?

    (2) Is the blog that you are trying to leave a comment on this one? http://38pitches.wordpress.com/
If so then please note that it’s up to the blogger there whether or not he chooses to turn off comments on posts and apparently he may be doing so from time to time.

    (3) Are you unable to leave comments on other wordpress.com blogs when you are signed in? If so then you need to contact staff. Please do as Mark says and provide all details as well as exact links .

Support hours are weekdays 9-5 PM Pacific time. You can use the “support” button on the top right hand corner of any admin side blog page or you can use this link http://wordpress.com/contact-support/

    Help!

  • Unknown's avatar

You’ve already read the feedback with regard to 38 pitches above. We can’t help with that. However, if you are signed into wordpress.com and cannot leave a comment on any other wordpress.com blog or on your own blog then you need staff help. On weekday 9-5 PM Pacific time you can use this link to report all your details to them http://wordpress.com/contact-support/

    cant leave a damn comment

    For reference:
If you cannot post a comment on the 38 pitches blog then take note that posting here on the forum will not in any way provide you with the capacity to post a comment. There is nothing that we volunteers can do about the choice of the blogger there, who closes the comments whenever he or she feels the need to.
