unable to limit the number of posts on the homepage

I put 8 on the setting- reading- Blog pages show at most, and the homepage is not static,
But it does not work,
What can I do please?

The following archive pages display 8 posts per page:
- 2019 posts archive (3 pages) — https://cwordsworth.com/2019
- “Business” category page (1 page) — https://cwordsworth.com/category/business/
The other category pages that I checked each have fewer than 8 posts in them.

But how do I limit the number of posts in the homepage to 8 please?
I even installed a plugin “custom post limit’, and it does not work either.

You’re welcome! I don’t why I failed to address the number of posts on the homepage. Sorry about that. I think it was something other than 8 when I looked, but I don’t recall. Anyway, glad that you like how it’s working now.
However, for some reason I find the number of posts per page displayed inconsistent:
- homepage – 9 posts per page
- 2019 posts archive (3 pages) – 8 posts per page
- “Business” category page (1 page) – 9 posts per page
