Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data.

Hi – I’ve been having similar problems for about a week now… I’ve tried the advice on clearing cache/cookies etc, but it doesn’t resolve the issue. At first I thought it might be specific to Google Chrome (my preferred browser) as when I tried viewing my sites with I.E. 9 I could. This actually turned out to be blind luck and coincidence (that is, I was using I.E.9 at the ‘right’ times) and I soon started getting unable to load page error messages in I.E. too…
I am a Talk Talk customer, which seems to be an issue for many, but as there seem to be increasing reports of problems from users of other providers is this still relevant?
One odd thing I’ve noticed is that I.E.9 does seem a bit more reliable: I am using IE9 to post this, whereas Chrome is telling me ‘No Data Received’ right now. This is on the same PC etc, with both browsers open! That said, there have been a few occasions where Chrome has connected while IE9 hasn’t, so it’s not specifically a browser issue…
I hope the above info is helpful and that this issue is resolved soon as it seems very widespread. Individuals reporting it to their ISP’s seems unlikely to resolve the issue because the customer support of most providers at the individual level is poxy, taking days to get problems elevated to the ‘upper level’ engineers who actually know what they are talking about… It’s just hours, perhaps days, of talking to people who say, effectively, ‘have you checked your cables’, ‘it’s the exchanges fault’ or ‘have you tried turning it off and on again?’ Wherever the incompatibility / glitch is it’s probably going to need engineers at both ends (WordPress and affected servers) talking to each other, and that’s not something WordPress.com users can make happen, however many phonecalls they make or forum messages they post.

I’ve tried changing my password as rjaybee has suggested, but sadly in my case this made no difference.

Problem has got worse again today – I can’t access my dashboard or any other blogs on .wordpress.com.
-
I am adding my case to these others above. I am with talktalk, using Firefox. Life has been problem-free for years. The problem started about a week ago. And it is exclusive to my WordPress blog. I have spent hours reading forums, cleaning everything in sight as advised by Firefox. Got nowhere like everyone else.
Finding on this forum that I am not alone is comforting. I am very grateful that others have shared their experiences and efforts. But the fact that all these efforts seem to have come to nothing on a permanent basis is also a downer.
My system is currently being tested by talktalk for errors. Others’ experience is telling me, Not to hold my breath.
I have registered my situation on the support forum and with talktalk engineers. -
@justjennifer I’d really like to know why you said to @mrsjacoby19 (page 7) “It doesn’t sound like the issues you are experiencing are related to this topic and I therefore suggestion you open your own thread.” WHAT!!!!
Did you actually read what she said – at all? She has explained that she can’t like certain posts and it tries to make her leave a comment. That’s a connection issue! And so is the page that comes up with 403 forbidden, that’s when it fails to connect to a blog – again a connection issue! I have also experienced the 403 forbidden message and I’m in the UK.
mrsjacoby19 is a blog that I follow and I can no longer make a comment on her blog, and sometimes I can’t even connect to her blog to view it. And she has also told me a few days ago that she couldn’t connect to my blog for a while either. As she pointed out she is in the US. I am in the UK, but this is clearly not a UK problem!
Also I’ve just had a message from someone in ‘Finland’ who told me they are experiencing some similar problems that others have mentioned and have been told by other bloggers they are also having the same problems that are being discussed on here.
Yesterday when I logged in I got a message telling me I was logging in too quickly???? I logged in the normal manner that I always do, and there’s nothing unusually quick about the way I log in! I went back and logged in again – no problem! I have never seen that message before. And a blogging friend of mine told me yesterday that she had a similar comment telling her that she had posted her comment to quickly – again she had never seen that message before, and lost her comment in the process. These are all connection issues. They are not irrelevant to this discussion – and no I’m not going to create a new thread for something that certain people might not think is relevant. Trying to put people off and make them go away will make people angry, and more likely to come back and make yet another comment.
Oh, and I’m now experiencing not being able to make a reply to comments on my own blog at times – something that others have said on here too. It’s taking me days to reply to everyone. So it seems the problem is getting worse!
Apologies if the WordPress team don’t like my comment, or think that it’s not relevant to this thread – I just like to speak the truth. Something I think a lot of people on here would like to hear from WordPress – eventually!

bizarrely, my ‘like’ button has just worked for the first time in several months. I can’t get into my blog though. Any clues, anyone?

I assure you that neither justjennifer nor any other Volunteer is trying to put anyone off. You folks are free to post as you wish into this thread.
When Staff have an update then they will post it exactly where they stated they would do that, which is in the sticky thread at the head of the forums.

OK. For TalkTalk try this, which seems to have worked for me on Chrome and IE:
Change the Kids Safe setting in your TalkTalk account to OFF
Clear your cache
(on Chrome go to History and the ‘Clear Bowsing Data’ button. Make sure the ’empty cache’ box is ticked. )
Reboot the modem and the browser. -

Many thanks indeed Rachel and team. It’s good to know the root cause.
All morning I’ve been testing laptop’s 3 browsers along lines suggested by fyreshman but my TT Home Safe setting were already off – except for Virus Alerts being on. (This blocks websites infected with viruses!)
Once all 3 were off and cache/cookies cleared I was up and running ok. But on PC IE10’s own clearance didn’t do the trick I had to use 3rd party utility to clear out everything. So at 11.30am got blog working properly on IE10. -
PS. having managed to publish a post, there’s improvement but it seems rather erratic as not always able to preview draft (as before). But at least I’m not getting thrown out whenever I change screen – hooray!!

Just read the latest engineer update; glad you’ve got to the route of the problem. I’m on Sky and I still can’t read my blog, let alone comment/view anyone else’s so I hope Sky was one of the ISPs you spoke to as well. Looking forward very much to getting back to normal as I’m sure everyone is; it must have been a headache for all concerned.

Hello same problems here, talktalk kids settings were ok, but wordpress site is very temperamental …. looking forward to news!
-
I am suffering all the above problems, can’t access, my blog, can’t like, comment or even post now! I am also with Talk Talk and in the UK.
So far it has been Talk Talk’s fault, ISPN address, then it was the fact we are in the UK. then some bright spark said it might be the government!
I have cleared the browser, cash and cookies nothing works! Please please try and fix it! willowdot21 -
I’m on talk talk too with the same access problem.
I have no kid safe software, so that can’t be the problem.
I’m running Google Chrome on Linux mint 15 cinnamon 64bit.
