Yes me too Carl on the commenting aspect of this issue. I had the same with re-blogging but that started working yesterday but was the only way to comment to my fellow WP blogger (GodandpoliticsUK). He has not got problem using BT.
Note> couldn’t reblog as usual from his blog but only via WP/Reader!

Talktalk Support engineer (at http://www.talktalkmembers.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1018664) rules out cause as being Browser, DNS, ISP or Op System and points to possible virus/malware/botnet attack as reported previously in WP Forums :

    2. Also search Google > ‘virus that block wp websites’

btaylor679, I am thinking the same thing. Advising us to speak to our ISPs I don’t think is the right solution when so many different ISP users have been affected. If it really was only TalkTalk users experiencing the problem fair enough, but that is clearly not the case. I can’t access my blog at all now. Not even to view a post. If this is going to carry on for a long time I’ll have to move my blog to a different hosting site, otherwise it’s a waste of money!

In 7 yrs with TTalk I’ve had only 1 or 2 minor web issues and they were sorted quickly. This has been the first major one and didn’t make sense ‘cos only my direct WP connections were affected as well as indirectly to a friend’s leading UK WP blog who’s on BT.

All other surfing via TT was 100%, as normal.

SO it may well prove to be something malicious buried within the linkages, as indicated in my 9.00am note above.

I’ve added my comment in the talktalk members forum as suggested.

I reported this problem in another thread several days ago but I’ve not had any response there to tell me other people had the same issue or that there is now a sticky on the subject. It would have been nice to have been told it was a common problem and to follow this thread instead of being left to find it for myself.

    Hi all
I am another very frustrated Talk Talk customer unable to set up a new blog – has anyone found a solution yet?
    Thx
    Carole

I just spent 30 mins on the phone with a TT manager – they say it’s a WP problem – they would I guess. Can someone sort it out please?

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m having the exact same problem, and oddly enough my internet provider is TalkTalk. Do we have a solution yet?

I am with Talk Talk and having similar issues with using my Word Press blogs ie unable to load and use sites. This is the 6th day.

Just logging the same issue, which seems to be getting worse. My ISP in the UK is TalkTalk.

Same for me, Talk Talk UK, problem exactly the same. I can’t even begin to imagine with my little brain what Talk Talk can have done to only affect WordPress.com users, but each of them in slightly different ways? But something, about 7 days ago, was changed and now here we are, stuck….

I’m getting the same problem. Have contacted Talk Talk via Twitter. They can’t replicate the problem at their end. They’ve suggested clearing the cache – haven’t had to do this before. As the problem clears itself after a few minutes with no action needed it’s hard to tell if clearing the cache solves the problem.

As commenter above says, this problem started around 7 days ago.

My ISP is Talk Talk and I’m using Google Chrome.

The blog in question is http://sncommunityweek.wordpress.com/

This is not just restricted to TalkTalk customers! I’m on Sky and there have been people on AOL, Co-op and BT posting here who are having the exact same problem. Maybe there’s a virus on WordPress? Somehow I doubt the likelihood of all these ISPs having the exact same problem at the exact same time, independently and only with WordPress. Whatever the cause, this is getting ridiculous. Nearly a week of not being able to access my blog, even to view a post, let alone change anything!

Newbies to this thread may find my comments at 9.00am and 9.32 today to be of some help. This link provided by Talktalk is informative:
    http://webwizards.net/blog/the-wordpress-virus-and-how-to-stop-it/

I’ve found some improvement as I’ve tried working through the day so we can but be patient. If engineers are checking and correcting code that’s been bugged then they have a huge time-consuming problem.

I’m finding my website (huddersfieldhistory.wordpress.com) either very slow to load, or (right now) not loading at all, whether approached in Mozilla or Explorer, and whether using its wordpress.com url, its .org.uk url, or an inward link.

I’d appreciate a comment from WordPress on this, please.

    It’s not Talktalk. It’s WordPress. :(

I, like lots it thankfully seems, have been having all sorts of WordPress trouble for the past week. Many blogs won’t load and a lot of time I can’t even get on my own. Some I can’t comment on as it tells me I’m not logged in, whilst others the comments won’t appear after being posted. They just disappear. For many blogs the Like button just won’t load.

And all this after I had to tell TalkTalk security that http://pixel.quantserve.com was a trusted site (whatever the hell it is) just to get onto any WordPress page at all.

I do note that all this started when alterations to the WordPress site happened such as the new way of telling you how many new blog posts there are in the Reader. Coincidence?

Well, this is rather out of left field, but as everyone affected seems to be in the UK, perhaps it is a UK government problem?

Or at least an issue with the internet backbone in the UK.
