Unable to Log In After Google Authenticator Unintentionally Deleted
-
Hi everyone,
I feel really naïve having done this accidentally, but I unintentionally lost access to my WordPress account after deleting Google Authenticator. I thought that my account was also linked to my phone number as a backup means of verification via SMS, but apparently that is not the case.
I would really, really appreciate any help you could give me, and I will be absolutely sure to create back-up codes the next time I do this! (Also, feel free to make fun of my 2-Step Authentication newbie fail.)
FYI: The username of the account I lost access to is the same as this one but without the “blah.”
Thank you so much!

I too have lost access to my WordPress account, after someone deleted my Google Authenticator. I need to access my blog asap and anything you can do to help is much appreciated.
The link to my blog is:

Me too. Just did the same thing. Had to create a fake account because I can’t get into my paid account, and apparently can’t contact support without having a paid account, which I HAVE, but can’t get into to contact support from.
Super frustrating. Need help. My original blog is champaignflavor.com or champaignflavor.wordpress.com .

I did the same thing as everybody else here.
My blog URL is iretablog.org
the email account that I’ve locked out is (email visible only to moderators and staff)
Thank you for any help you can provide!!

Everyone: sorry for the delay. I have emailed each of you a unique, single-use access code to the email address associated with your respective accounts. The subject line is: “WordPress.com Two-Step Authentication Recovery”. Please make sure to check your email spam folder if you don’t see it.
@edillman2013 – I show that you no longer have two-step enabled, so I did not send you an email.
If you’d like to continue to use two-step authentication, you must keep the Google Authenticator app installed on your phone. You’ll need to use this app each time you log into your WordPress.com account.
Also, please make sure to print the backup codes (in case you lose your phone) from the Security tab:
https://wordpress.com/?ssl=forced#!/settings/security/You can see complete instructions for using twostep authentication here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/security/two-step-authentication/Let me know how that works for you.
-
This is so helpful, thank you! One question: I want to get rid of two-step authentication. Are there directions for that in wordpress support? Thank you so much!
-
@williamsjess: Yes, you can disable two-step from your security settings screen:
https://wordpress.com/?ssl=forced#!/settings/security/Click the “disable” button next to “Status: ON” and that will disable it from your account.
Let me know if you have any other questions!

Hello,
I have the same issue with my second wordpress.com account, that’s why I’m leaving a message from this one. My site is: http://marilenaleta.wordpress.com/ and I’d like to receive a unique, single-use access code to the email address associated to that account to unlock it. Thanks in advance -
@maleta1978 – I’ve emailed you a code.
