Unable to log in to admin page

For some reason, WP is refusing entry into my admin pages. I enter the correct username and the correct password, but receive an error message saying I’ve entered the wrong username or the wrong password.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard. The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:
http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
* You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with the actual blog’s name in that URL.
I recommend bookmarking that link or memorizing it.
You can update your email address here https://wordpress.com/me at any time.
If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies and then login correctly under the relevant username account.
If you did not register the site under your username account and do not have the required access, then you need to contact the person who registered the account and site under it, and have them act or transfer the site to your username account by using this process. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account

Support Staff cannot breach the privacy policy and provide the log-in information. You have to provide proof ownership to Account Recovery Staff to gain access https://en.support.wordpress.com/account-recovery/

I’m the administrator and have sole access; a longtime WP member like you. I’ve cleared the cache and entered my log-in information precisely as you outlined. My admin page is bookmarked.
I don’t know what the problem is. I logged in okay through the “front door” at wordpress.com but does not give access to the admin page.

That’s weird. When we need Staff help with issues Volunteers cannot resolve like this one we type modlook into the sidebar tags on our forum threads. I did that for you. I’m really baffled. Did a password reset, two-step authentication, thinking that could be the source of problem. Those didn’t help either. WP doesn’t like me today. I regularly clear my cache every few weeks and start fresh with no cookies & log-in cookies. It’s never done this before.

After spending a couple more hours at the problem, I once again checked my browser settings and found my blog site listed as a trusted site. (I use IE 11 part of legacy reasons when using my computer for work.) Don’t ask me how it ended up on that list. I removed my blog from the trusted site list, and lo and behold, the admin page returned and properly rendered. Cleared the cache again, re-entered my log-in information and the admin page displayed.
I think this can be added to the list of remedies if IE is being used. Do not list “http://nameofblog.wordpress.com” as a trusted site.
I really appreciate your help, timethief. Always found you as one of the steadier voices here in the support forums.

Wow, that’s odd. I’m glad you figured it out though. If you use https instead in the trusted site list, does that help?

On the trusted site list, it is set to use https as part of the address. It is truly odd what was happening. I’m just glad it’s back to being functional.
