Unable to log into my blog.

Hello,
I am unable to stay signed in to my blog. Am prompted to log in every time I comment on my own or other blogs. Its like an OTP for each comment!
Unable to ‘Like’ other posts as well. The back end admin page – the wordpress.com part – seems fine. It is the ‘.com’ site that seems to be logging me out.
Missing the chat support….whatever happened to that?

Your login information for the purpose of commenting applies only to sites that are hosted by wordpress.COM and that allow commenting by logged in wordpress.COM users.
That login information does not apply to sites running wordpress.ORG software on paid hosting.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. You did not provide the URLs of the sites you cannot comment on that display the behavior that you refer to above but you can determine where they are hosted by typing the URLs into http://www.whoishostingthis.com/

I am on the wordpress.com platform on a premium plan! The admin page is theurgetowander.wordpress.com. The blog is theurgetowander.com. Am able to access the admin page and even publish posts. But am unable to stay logged into theurgetowander.com. Cannot, comment on my own or other wordpress.com sites without repeated log ins. Unable to ‘Like’ any wordpress.com site.
Am back after a long absence and have a hge backlog to catch up on.

Just to be clear, I am able to comment one time after I log in. Then I am prompted to repeat the whole process again! Every single time. Likes do not register at all.

You have to be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog’s dashboard. The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:
http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
* You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with the actual blog’s name in that URL.
I recommend bookmarking that link or memorizing it.

If you are not logged in under the correct username account then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies and then login correctly under the relevant username account.

I mentioned in my original post that I am able to access my admin page. I have access to all back end account details.
It is the blog – theurgetowander.com – that is the issue here! The black bar at the top of the home page and all posts pages is missing and clicking on submit comment leads me to a ‘login to post comment’ error page powered by Jetpack.
The message reads ” Your are being asked to log in because the email ……. is used by an account you are not logged into right now”

There is a single email address that can be used on only one wordpress.COM username account and not on any others, regardless of how many blogs are registered under that username account.
The wordpress.COM blog’s owner can change the relevant email address on their accounts page at https://wordpress.com/me/account at any time. A confirmation email will be sent to that address.

Changing the browser didn’t help. I am reluctant to clear the cache for fear of losing access to the Admin page without help from support. Have had no response to my email and there’s no guarantee I will hear from them anytime soon.
I am using a Macbook Air and Web Browser

Looks like something did indeed disable cookies on my laptop, not sure what exactly. Have added theurgetowander.com to the safe-list and it’s working fine again.

A related issue, but a relatively minor one- I tend to copy/paste my email so that I don’t have to rewrite it for everything I’m signing into at a given time. For the last two weeks, that has not worked while logging into WordPress on IE. It has worked logging in on Chrome. I paste it in, enter my password, and then the system tells me to do so again, erases the email. I have to re-enter it manually to get it to take.

Hi @williamkendall1, @mashet’s issue was a problem with system-wide cookies. Since your problem occurs in one browser but not another, it doesn’t sound related. If you’ll open a new thread and add the modlook tag there, we’ll check it out.
