Unable to login to get my API key
-
I’m trying to decrease my spam with Askimet
When I login to wordpress using the link I’m emailed to approve a comment (http://www.badadvicecolumn.com/wp-login.php?loggedout=true), I’m able to access my dashboard, post, etc.
When I try to login to wordpress from their main login page, (https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php) my username and password don’t work.
To enable Askimet, I need an API key (http://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/#finding-your-key)
Unfortunately, this sends me to the main login page, which doesn’t accept my username and password.
I’m also unable to backup wordpress for the same reason.
I had to create a separate profile just to access the forum area.
I have a domain separate from wordpress and wonder if that’s the problem. If so, how do I fix it?

I do not know why this link does not work for you http://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/
Have you tried logging out of WordPress.com, and force clearing your browser cache and cookies, and then logging in again? The instructions for specific browsers are found here > http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
Have you tried using another browser?
Some issues can be caused by not updating your Flash. You can use this link to see if your flash is up to date. http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ If it’s not then go to http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/ and download and install the latest version of flash.
It will take time for Staff to get to your support ticket which will be in their queue. Please be patient.

It’s a mystery to me as well. I’m able to access the pages with this link http://en.support.wordpress.com/api-keys/ with the username and password I set up to be able to post to the forum.
The problem is, that username/pwd isn’t connected to my blog http://www.badadvicecolumn.com.
I wrote down the original username and password to my blog but wordpress doesn’t recognize it.
I’ve updated my flash player and cleared the cookies and cache in Firefox. Isn’t that the recommended browser for wordpress?
