Unable to map subdomain
-
We have a domain registered elsewhere. We would like to point blog.earthwatch.org to this blog. The cname record has been created, yet I am still getting the error when I try to map it that the domain is not registered.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there!
Mapping a subdomain, like blog.earthwatch.org, is a little different from mapping ordinary domains. Be sure to follow this guide:
-
I am following that – but I keep getting:
Sorry but blog.earthwatch.org has not been registered yet therefore cannot be mapped.
I don’t know what this means. The domain is registered outside of earthwatch. Has been for years. we have the cname record setup (according to my IT department) and pointing to earthwatchunlocked.wordpress.com – what am I missing?

Hello!
Would you like your WordPress.com site (earthwatchunlocked.wordpress.com) to appear at this domain – blog.earthwatch.org. If yes, you’ll need to map the subdomain to your site at WordPress.com by following these instructions:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-subdomain/#instructions-for-mapping-subdomains
You will need to add a CNAME record at the place the main domain is registered. It will look something like this:
blog.earthwatch.org IN CNAME earthwatchunlocked.wordpress.com
