Unable to post ….

  • Unknown's avatar

I haven’t published a post in a long time and things have seemed to change. I typed a few lines and wanted to add a photo and when I selected it as a large JPG it wouldn’t load. Do the jpg have to be a certain size?

I saved the file as a “Save Draft” and now I can’t find it.

Things sure have changed , please help.

    Thanks

I have finally been able to get some Photos loaded but identical type jpgs will not load for some reason. Then other files I have loaded into the post cannot be moved up or down. Is it that they can only be moved left right or center? Re-sizing is also problem. Thanks for any help in advance. Vince

    Hi Vince,

If things are looking unfamiliar, you may want to start by checking out our Images support page for all the details about adding images to blog posts. I’ll be happy to answer your questions and explain things in more detail, as well.

I typed a few lines and wanted to add a photo and when I selected it as a large JPG it wouldn’t load. Do the jpg have to be a certain size?

Images that you add to your posts do not have to be a certain size, but large images may take longer to load depending on the speed of your internet connection. When you say the JPGs will not load, does this happen when you are uploading the image to your Media Library or after you try to insert the image into your blog post?

Then other files I have loaded into the post cannot be moved up or down. Is it that they can only be moved left right or center?

You can use the image alignment icons in the post editor to adjust the left, right, or center alignment of an image. If you want to move the image to a different place in the post, you can click and drag the image to move it.

    Re-sizing is also problem.

You can use our image editing tools to resize an uploaded image. You can also change the image settings from within a post to resize an image that is already inserted into a post. Is there a specific problem you are encountering when you try to resize images?

I saved the file as a “Save Draft” and now I can’t find it.

You can find all of your blog posts by going to Posts > All Posts in your dashboard. If you click on the Draft link at the top of that page, you can see a list of just your draft posts.

I hope this helps! Just let me know if you have additional questions. :)

    Hi Rachel,
Thanks for the reply. I was able to get my blog post completed. But it was very difficult. Pics aligned left right or center OK, but I can’t click and drag them.
Seem to not have full control of curser, especially after inserting a pic. The word rap function seems to do what it wants. I just can’t click and move the curser where I want.
I would appreciate it if you would look at my blog and get a better idea of what I am writing about.

Hi Vince, I took a look at your blog and I think I might know what’s going on. The way that left and right alignment works for images may not be quite what you expect, so let me start by explaining a little:

When you have right, left, or center-aligned images, the image will be placed to the right, left, or center of the text where you cursor is placed in the blog post. (This may not be right where the mouse shows up — you will want to look for the text cursor as your drag the image around on the screen.)

If the text next to a left-aligned image is short, it may not fill up all of the space next to the image. In that case, if you have another left-aligned image inserted right after that text, the second image will end up underneath the text next to the first image (rather than being placed all the way on the left edge, below the first image). Here’s what that looks like:

You can solve this by pressing the Enter/Return key after the text, until the second image is pushed down below the first one, like this:

Another issue that can pop up is if you have one left-aligned image and one right-aligned image right next to each other. If the images are small and don’t fill up the entire width of the blog post, the text in your post will fill up the gap between the images. Here’s what I mean by that:

If you want two images to be side-by-side in your blog post, with the text underneath them, the two images should both be either left-aligned or right-aligned (but not one of each). You can also adjust the size of the images so they fill the width of the blog post. That way, you get this result:

I hope this explanation helps! If you still have questions about this, please let me know. If you can give me an example of a specific picture that is still giving you trouble, I would be happy to take another look for you. :)
