Unable to post to LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

Publicize suddenly stopped working for our website.
We’ve checked XMLRPC, but we can’t get it to work.
Can you assist us in solving this issue?

    Best,
    Richard

Can you please remove my post, I don’t want to expose this website

  • Hi there,

I’ve removed the link for the site in your first post, but I don’t see any Publicize connections for that site, and it doesn’t look like it ever had a Facebook connection – I only see old and now disconnected Twitter and LinkedIn connections on that site.

If you need help with a different site, and you don’t want to share the URL here, please contact Jetpack support directly at https://jetpack.com/contact-support/?rel=support instead.

    Hello Kokkieh,

That is correct, the support form automatically posted a link to another website.
The website I am talking about is: http://www.mkfotowerken.nl

I’ve also ran the ‘debugger’, it says everything is ok.

    Best,
    Richard

  • Okay, it looks like that site is not syncing with Jetpack, most likely because sync via cron on your site is disabled. Are you using a different plugin to manage cron jobs on your site rather than the built in cron feature of WordPress? If so, you’ll need to make sure that’s configured correctly to ensure Jetpack sync happens when it’s supposed to. Else we can re-enable Jetpack to sync via Cron on our end to see if that helps. If not, you’ll really need to contact Jetpack support directly.

Meanwhile I’ve manually scheduled a sync, and it’s running on your site now.

    Hi Kokkieh,

There is no plugin that manages a cron. And I don’t think the host allows running one.
Should I install such a plugin?
Is there anything else I should adjust in wp_config??

    Thanks,
    Richard

    Hi,

    I’ve installed a cron-plugin.
    It reports:
    jetpack_sync_cron None

    Jetpack_Sync_Actions::do_cron_sync()

2018-06-27 16:08:39 (now) Every minute Edit | Run Now | Delete
    jetpack_sync_full_cron None

    Jetpack_Sync_Actions::do_cron_full_sync()

2018-06-27 16:08:40 (now) Every minute Edit | Run Now | Delete

So it looks like a cron is running.

  • @rakeizer thank you. We can also just re-enable sync on our side if you’d like, so you don’t need the extra plugin. If that’s okay with you, you can remove that plugin, then confirm here, and we’ll take care of it.

    That would be great.
But can you tell me why this happened in first place? How did sync got disabled?

    Thanks!

  • I’m having trouble re-enabling cron on our end, and we suspect it might be due to the Jetpack version. According to the Jetpack debugger, your site is still on v 4.3.2 of Jetpack, while the most recent version is 6.2.1

It also looks like the site is still on WordPress 4.6, while the current version is 4.9.

Can you please try updating both the WordPress software on your site as well as the plugin to the latest versions? If you need any help on how to do that, please contact your hosting provider or ask in the self-hosted WordPress forums at https://wordpress.org/support/

I will update both WordPress and Jetpack. I will report once I’m ready.

Thanks, just reply here when you’ve done that and we’ll take another look.

I’ve updated the plugin and everything works now. Thanks!

  • Fantastic! Thanks for letting us know :)
