Unable to purchase WordPress plan due to repeated debit card transaction decline
-
I am unable to complete the payment for a WordPress.com plan required to install plugins. Every attempt results in a transaction decline, even though my bank has confirmed there is no issue from their side.
Details:
- I am using a PNB Mastercard debit card (India).
- I have enabled Domestic E-commerce, International E-commerce, and International usage.
- Sufficient balance and transaction limits are available
- I contacted PNB customer care, and they confirmed my card is active and eligible for international e-commerce transactions.
- At checkout, WordPress only shows the Debit Card payment option (no PayPal or other alternatives)
Despite this, the payment always fails with the message:“Transaction was declined, please try with another card.”
Impact:
I specifically need to purchase a WordPress plan to install plugins, which is essential for my website setup. Due to this payment issue, I am unable to proceed further.
Request for Support:
Could you please help me with the following:
- Confirm whether PNB Mastercard debit cards from India are supported for WordPress plan purchases
- Let me know if there are any alternative payment methods available for my account or region
- Advise if there is any solution or workaround that would allow me to complete the purchase successfully.
I would like to continue using WordPress only, and I would really appreciate your guidance on resolving this issue.

Hi @priyaag338
It could be possible that the transaction could be flagged by the bank as unusual.
Is it possible for you to get cards of any of the banks listed below from someone trusted?
- ICICI Bank
- HDFC Bank
- Axis Bank
In my experience, these have been more reliable while making international payments.
Could you try and let us know?
