Unable to redirect mapped domain
-
I am unable to redirect traffic from http://www.upramillies.be to unitepastoraleramillies.wordpress.com though upramillies.be has been mapped (in fact http://www.upramillies.be). Note that DNS is not hosted @ wordpress.
Can you provide guidance to get this working ?
NB: I have removed the previous CNAME http://www.upramillies.be -> unitepastoraleramillies.wordpress.com as it was not working and causing unavailability of service. Thanks !

Hi there,
I checked your site link upramillies.be and was redirected to your site unitepastoraleramillies.wordpress.com.
So, I believe the redirect is working fine.If you’re facing an issue then it’d be great if you can share a screenshot of what you’re seeing. If you need some help with that, you can refer this page – https://www.take-a-screenshot.org

Hi there,
A redirect and mapping a domain is not the same thing.
upramillies.be is currently redirecting to your WordPress.com address, unitepastoraleramillies.wordpress.com, but a redirect set up on OVH’s end will not cause the your site to appear at the domain, upramillies.be. The way you currently have it set up the domain mapping upgrade in your account isn’t doing anything at all, as we have no access to it.
For a domain mapping to work you need to either point the domain’s name servers to us, or add A records at your domain provide with our IP addresses.
We recommend you point the domain here using name servers. You’ll need to change the domain’s name servers to the following:
NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
NS3.WORDPRESS.COM
If you don’t want to point the name servers to us, you’ll need to add A-records instead. You will need to add two A-records with these IPs:
192.0.78.24
192.0.78.25
Both IPs must be added to the root domain, not to a subdomain like “www”.
You can find more information on how domain mapping works here:

Hi,
Indeed I know that redirect is not the same thing as mapping…
But I had to use this workaround to avoid any unavailability.
The information about the A records was not available in the article you provided… which would have solved my issue from the start, as I didn’t want to change name servers.
Another thing is I had forgotten to change the primary domain which was explained in another article…
It works now :)Thanks for the support !
Have a great day !
NB: an addition to the article you mentioned with the A records option would be useful to some other people as well, I think. -
The information about the A records was not available in the article you provided
And that is intentional, as we’d prefer people don’t use that method to point a domain here – it is not as reliable as pointing the name servers. We only provide that information on request.
